So funny story...maybe not so much to my mom, but to the rest of us its humorous. January 1st, my dad, Michael, and my oldest brother Nicholas decided to go deer hunting on my dad's property in South Carolina. It was the last day of the deer season and so they decided to take advantage of it.
It was the afternoon, and all 3 men were up in their tree stands awaiting their deer. Nic was in his, when all of a sudden this guy came up to him...this guy happened to be a Wildlife Ranger-dude. He then proceeded to tell Nic that he was hunting illegally and asked to see Nic's hunting license, well to make matters worse, Nic had no hunting license and he is over the age of 18. The guy told him that he had the possibility of going to jail. Nic then told the man that this was our dad's property and that our dad was here. So they left Nic's tree stand and went and got my dad, and then later went and got Mike.
The reason for the Wildlife Ranger-dude, to come onto the property was that the Wildlife peoples had been doing some fly overs, over the property and saw that my dad, and his buddy who put the them up, had deer feeders and corn laid around the property, and in this particular county and part of South Carolina, it is illegal to have any kind of feeders up during hunting season. BUSTED!!!
Ladd (my dad)--fined with setting up illegal feeders and was hunting over one of the feeders...the treestand he was in had a feeder nearby.
Michael--fined for not having a out-of-state hunting license, and a Big Game hunting license
Nicholas--fined for illegal hunting over a feeder, no hunting license, and no Big Game hunting license.
Lets just say they are lucky that they didnt actually KILL anything and then were caught. When they all were caught and brought together, the cops were called out to the property. All of them either had to come up with the cash right then, or they would have to go to jail. Luckily they got some nice dudes to work with, and they agreed that my dad, Mike, and Nic could be escorted into the small town nearby by to an ATM, to get some cash out. So off they went, escorted by 2 Cop Cars into town, 1 in front, and 1 in back. After using a few credit cards, they got the cash they needed and were written up and off the hook.
Sally (my mom) wasnt too happy when she found out my dad had been setting up these feeders for months now illegally...she accused my dad of him costing her some new chairs and a desk she could of bought with the money that was used to pay off the fines. She wished they would have spent the night in jail.
Lynsee (myself) laughed at the matter and would have laughed if they would have gotten thrown in jail.
The Russians (my bro's) laughed as well at the matter, all except Nic who didnt like the idea that he was threatened to be put in jail.
All in all, it was a funny story and a hard, expensive lesson learned for my dad.
