This whole trip came together when we found out that the BYU Girls Basketball Team were going to be playing 3 games in the Boston area. It worked out that the same week they would be playing in Boston, would be the same week that Mike was in Kentucky hunting. My aunt Peggy also lives in the Boston area, and for the time being, they are renting this gorgeous beach house RIGHT on the beach. My mom and the twins found some cheap airline tickets so they flew into Boston which made our time spent there even more exciting. My cousin, Haley is one of the star players for the BYU Ladies' Team, so it gave us all the more reason to see the games.
The first day of trip, we left on a Wednesday, me and the kiddos drove the 6 1/2 hours to our first stop, Nashua, New Hampshire. Some good friends of ours, the Begnaud's live there....the Begnaud's went to Anesthesia school with us in Tennessee and Chuck had landed a job there in New Hampshire. They live right on the border of NH and MA (about 45 min;s from Boston), so of course we had to pay them visit! It was fun to see them and to see how grown up all of our kids are. After visiting with them for a bit, we drove on down to my aunt's house where we met up with everyone. It had been a long day, but a good one.
THURSDAY: The second day of our trip, we all decided to just take it easy. We slept in, had a big breakfast, let the girls play on the beach (which was freezing by the way) and then we headed to HomeGoods--the twins were more than thrilled about this (insert sarcasm here). After a little shopping and dropping our stuff off at Aunt Peggy's house, we headed towards downtown Boston. That night we ate at this awesome BBQ place...it was delicious! After eating our food, we headed for Boston College for the BYU vs Boston College game. Unfortunately, BYU lost. The highlight of the night was ME, falling down about 13 stairs in the basketball stadium. Yeah, it was just a tad bit embarrassing. I somehow lost my footing coming down the stairs to return to my seat, I fell and not only did I fall, but I probably skidded down about 8 more steps after falling over the first 5! Yeah, I landed flat on my face, and when I got up I turned around, about 200 people were staring at me and they had that "deer in the headlights" looks on their faces. After I gave a wave and bowed down for my spetacular "falling" performance, everybody started clapping and cheering for me. I think I got more claps and cheers then the actual basketball game got. And if that wasnt embarrassing enough, a couple of workers with BRIGHT orange vest rushed to my seat to ask me if I needed any medical attention....did I mention that their vest were BRIGHT orange?!?! Yeah, lets just draw more attention to the incident. And that ladies and gentlemen, was my big debut at Boston College. Hopefully there will be no more performances in the future, EVER. Another highlight of the night was the fact that Rhett made it onto the Big Screen in the arena doing the "Gangnam Style" dance....thats my boy!! He's that cool of a little dude :)
um...yeah...this was basically me at Boston College....

FRIDAY: The third day of our trip, we decided to head back into Boston and walk along the "Freedom Trail". Now we have done this once before, but it has been about 10 years ago or so. So it was nice to do it again where I actually cared to learn more about our Nation's Great History....the last time we went to Boston, I had just graduated high school and I think I was more interested at looking for cute guys then I was in the actual history of this marvelous city. ANYWAYS, it was fun to see some of the sights again and thankfully my 3 kiddos behaved themselves awesomely! I really do have great kids...I can take them anywhere to see anything, and they are pretty well behaved for being the ages that they are. OK, picture time...

After touring Boston all day, we headed over to the Harvard vs BYU game. I had the pleasure of meeting up with an old friend of mine from clear back in Elementary/Intermediate School--Liz Braithwaite (now Geiger). It was so fun to meet up with Liz and meet her little boy, Marcus who is only just a few weeks younger than Rhett. I dont think I have seen Liz since moving away from Utah forever ago. Her hubby is attending Harvard Law school, so I am so glad she was able to walk over from her home to see us. It was fun watching Haley play again and visiting with my Uncle Dorne and Aunt Kristen as well (Haley's parents). This time, I did NOT fall down any stairs.
**Unfortunately I did not get any pictures with Liz #Isuckatgettingpictures
SATURDAY: The fourth day of our trip, we headed over to Plymouth, MA to visit the "Plimouth Plantation", see "Plimouth Rock", and tour the "Mayflower II"---a replica of the original Mayflower. I had never been here before, and it was really neat to see it, especially being around Thanksgiving time. This place gives you a whole new reason to really appreciate the things that we have today. Walking around the different villages (indian and pilgrim), its amazing to me the way these people lived, especially during the winter months. Addison and Zoey had a blast walking through all the Indian and Pilgrim houses. I though the plantation did a great job of replicating the life back then. THey even have people dressed up just like the Indians and Pilgrims would have dresses, and they also talked like they did back then. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here......

Picture with the Mayflower int he background---it is a LOT smaller than I had imagined it. Crazy to think they had over 100 people shoved onto this tiny ship for months.
"Plymouth Rock" it is quite pathetic really.....for one thing, I cant even touch it, and second, the story goes that somebody found this rock and just decided that it would be THE Plymouth Rock. They dont even know if this is the actual rock or not....quite disappointing if you ask me. Oh well, we got a picture anyways.
Christian acting like he is "peeing" on the rock....HA (laugh mom, its funny)

And this pretty much wraps up our trip. Sunday morning we got up WAY early, dropped my mom and the twins off at the airport in Boston, and then me and the kids headed back to New York. We had a fabulous time and want to thank my aunt Peggy and Uncle Roger for hosting us while were there in Boston and for showing us around. We hope to be back to Boston again sometime soon since we really arent too far from it. 6 1/2 hours is all it took us to get there. Not to shabby. Thanks Boston!! Until next time....
