Addison had a wonderful birthday, according to her and myself. The Monday before her birthday (09.10.2012), we surprised her by taking her to the mall to get her ears pierced. She has been wanting to get them done, but much to her daddy's dismay, he finally agreed to let her do it for her 5th Birthday. He wanted to surprise her ON her birthday, but I told him we were taking her in before her actual birthday in case they were sore, get infected, or whatever. We got to the store, and Addie was super excited and was ready to do it, up until the ladies got right up to her ears to actually pierce. Then she freaked out. She cried for about 15 minutes before FINALLY getting back up on the chair and letting them do it. She freaked out b/c the 2 ladies who were doing her piercings, 1 had a nose ring, and the other had her upper lip pierced, and so Addison thought they were going to pierce her in those places as well, also she didnt know the ladies' names and told me that they were strangers....so I told Addie to go up to them and ask them their names, and she also made sure that they were going to pierce her ears, and her ears ONLY. After that, she got right up there and got them pierced. She only cried for a few moments until she saw herself in the mirror and she was in love with her new PINK earrings.
The night before her birthday (9/13), we let her open a few gifts for "Birthday Eve". She got a new Pink hat from Mike and I, and a "Brave-Merida" doll from Zoey and Rhett.
On Addison's actually Birthday (09.14.2012), she got to wake up to streamers hanging on her bedroom door. When she came downstairs, the family room was decorated with streamers, balloons, and a Happy Birthday Banner. She started screaming "look!! The birthday fairy came to visit me!" I let her keep thinking that, I thought it was cute, the idea of a Birthday Fairy. She got to eat Chocolate Chip Mickey Mouse shaped Pancakes for breakfast which happens to be her favorite food. She was one happy Birthday girl.
After breakfast, we loaded up in the car and headed for gymnastics. At gymnastics, Addie got some 1-on-1 time with her gymnastics coach b/c for whatever reason, we were the only ones that showed up on time, and those coaches dont mess around. Once it was 9:15am, her coach was starting class whether anybody else was there or not. For about the first 5 or 6 minutes, Addison got all the attention until about 3 other members of her class finally showed up.
After gymnastics, we headed home where Addison got to open a few more gifts from her aunts. A "polly pocket sized" princess Merida (Brave) doll, and a La La Loopsy Doll (I really am not sure yet what the big hype is about this stupid doll with buttons for eyes, but whatever). Her new toys helped with the passing of time until her big birthday party that afternoon.
Next comes the FABULOUS cake that I, again I, THE MAMMA made all by myself! I am quite proud of this cake. I have never worked with fondant before, nor have I ever actually made the stuff. But I decided to go out on a limb here and I made my own fondant, and decorated the cake all on my own. I know, your impressed right? So am I! I LOVED the way the cake turned out and I am so ready to do another. I enjoy baking, especially decorating cakes and stuff, so I have been trying to get more into it and make it sort of a hobby. We shall see. Ok, now I am rambling, onto the pictures now....
Proof that I did, indeed make my own fondant
putting it onto the cake
The finished product! Awesome, right?!?!?!
A top view of the cake
Here's a picture of the inside of the cake...multi-colored.
Addison wanted to have her party at a Bounce House place. So a Bounce House party it was. We went to Bounce-It-Out, where she had about 11 friends show up to party hard alongside with Addison. After bouncing for about an hour, we got to go into the party room where Addison got to sit on this big inflatable chair...she LOVED it. She said she felt like the queen. In the party room they got to eat pizza, cake, and Addie got to open up all her presents from all of her friends.
Addie got lots of great stuff and had the best birthday ever!! (in her words) A big thanks to ALL of her friends who came to help us celebrate Addison's special day:
Livia, Claire, Meagan, Arthie, Holden, Parker, David, Lily, Emilie, Emma
*my singing is HORRIBLE and totally off pitch in this video, I was trying to film, talk, and enjoy the moment all at the same time
